What’s the difference?

The major difference is how they are made. Both are based on a clay mixture that is then fired in a kiln. But porcelain tiles are made from more refined clay and are fired at higher temperatures.

This makes denser and more durable than ceramic. It’s also why they tend to be more expensive and are considered to be of higher quality. There are several characteristics that both types of tile share, so when you need advice our ceramic flooring store experts can help you choose. What they have in common?

  1. Don’t burn: If any cigarette ash falls on the floor, whereas this may cause lasting damage to some floor coverings, it will not leave any trace on a tile floor.
  2. Are anti-static: They don’t become electrically charged as a result of friction, like when you walk over them. This has hygiene advantages, and the anti-static aspect is why electrically conductive tiles are used in hospital operating theatres.
  3. Do not harm health: Whether they have been glazed or are left unglazed, this flooring has very dense surfaces. This is why the mites, microbes and other microorganisms that can cause allergies don’t survive when ceramic is cleaned. It’s also they are medically recommended.
  4. Are environmentally friendly, hygienic and easy to clean: Tiles can be disposed of easily as building waste. Because they are so durable when they cared for properly and laid professionally they will last a very long time and look terrific for many years.
  5. Hold their colors: Because colors are crucial to the harmony of any room, colorfastness can be a key factor to consider when choosing a tile floor.
  6. Are strong and robust: It would take dropping something very heavy to scratch these. Glazed-tile floor coverings are capable of withstanding very high pressures -even stiletto heels can’t harm them.

Even outdoors, frost-resistant ceramics are ideal. When laid they remain weather resistant.
